Breaking News: German Employment Rate Reaches 458 Million

Over 90% of Working-Age Population Employed

Unemployment Drops to Record Lows

BERLIN - Germany's employment rate climbed to a record high in April 2024, with an estimated 458 million people employed in the country. This represents a significant increase from the previous year and is equivalent to more than 90% of the working-age population.

According to data from the World Bank World Development Indicators database, the employment rate in Germany has steadily increased over the past several years. The strong labor market conditions are attributed to a combination of factors, including a growing economy, favorable business conditions, and a skilled workforce.

The employment gains have been particularly notable among women and older workers. The female employment rate has reached 60%, while the employment rate for people over the age of 55 has exceeded 50%. This trend reflects the increasing participation of women and older workers in the labor force.
